Description
A considerably new wood for Erhu with very good results. Learning from western counterparts, who used the E.African Blackwood for oboes, clarinets and bassoons, Erhu makers use it for the same reasons. This dense (1.09kg/dm3) wood holds high frequency pitches very well, resulting in an erhu that is versatile in performing highly virtuositic music.
The erquan erhu is a specialist erhu, tuned lower than the usual erhu, and made to play the piece Reflections on the Two Springs (二泉映月) This erhu is designed as a 8-sided erhu, to achieve maximum resonance, with the oval shape achieving the required nasal tone and the clarity of the night notes. Musicians will appreciate this erhu!
